Beautiful Spots – Wild Camping

Fox Lake, Yukon

Fox Lake is a huge lake.  As we paralleled  it we kept looking for a spot to pull out and wild camp or boon dock.  All the spots were highway pullouts for emergencies only, so we were pretty much giving up on that idea.  But just about when we came to the end of the lake – there it was.  The perfect spot.  It was along the highway, but it went down to lake level so we were well enough off the highway and below the traffic. Plus, this was not a busy highway at this time of year.

Fox Lake is beautiful during the day with turquoise blue and jade green crystal clear water.  We sat along the banks, had lunch and just daydreamed away most of the afternoon.  Hailey loved it.  It was cold water but that didn’t stop her from running straight in for an afternoon swim.

We stayed here two days and enjoyed the sunrise and sunsets-absolutely gorgeous.

Just a little south of the lake was a turnout for horseback riding adventures in the Yukon.  I would love to return and do one of those adventures !  Maybe something else for the “return trip” bucket list.  Sometimes there just doesn’t seem to be enough time to do everything-so we enjoy the moments we have and day dream about the rest.  Will we return ?  Who knows.

We didn’t worry much about a return trip, we were too busy enjoying the beauty of the present moment. Again, I tell myself, “This is the best moment of my life” and it is !

Another sweet spot we stumbled upon for wild camping was in British Columbia, at LaSalle Lake Recreation Site.  Free, just a very very short drive off the main highway and outside the town of McBride,BC.

The day we pulled in, the clouds hung low and it was overcast.

When we woke the next morning we could see the Canadian Rockies peeking through .

We knew we were headed towards Jasper and that our wild camping would be severally limited.  Inside Jasper Park they frown on wild camping and want you to camp in designated spots only – so we enjoyed these spots while we could !

Happy Trails and Safe Travels my friends….
